To our valued customers,

Thank you for the outpouring of support you have sent to our team and for all you have done to ensure their safety. Your emails, texts and calls have been very appreciated. At this time, due to so many calls coming in to pause cleanings for possible COVID19 exposures in homes and offices, it is time to shut down for our staff’s health and safety.

Edge will close for the next two weeks. We will re-assess the risks on April 3rd and see where we stand.

My hope is that each and every one of you and your family are safe during this time. We love our relationships with you and hope they will resume once this pandemic is under control. We have some very high risk clients, some of whom have surgery in the weeks ahead. We will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers as you navigate this difficult time.

Stay healthy and safe. My staff and I look forward to resuming services as soon as possible.

According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, 1 in 5 Americans suffer from allergies. That's over 50 million Americans. There are some great things that you can do to help relieve your allergies. Dust mites are a common culprit to those who suffer. Dust mites cannot survive in any extreme condition. That would mean that whether you choose heat (steam) or cold (freeze) them, both can get ahead of those pesky pests.

The first option, being heat, would include owning a hand-held steamer. It can be a wonderful asset to your green cleaning arsenal. You can find them at most big box stores and the newer ones have a trigger that allow you to choose when to shoot steam. Once you check the manufacturer’s tags, you can steam fabrics, mattresses, couches etc. Don’t forget to use this for your glass, counter tops (not granite), and baths. Steam kills 99% of germs and will dissolve mold and mildew in the shower grout immediately.

The second option is something you already own, your freezer. It can also be your best friend. If you don't want to steam something, pop it in a bag and throw it in the freezer. I leave mine several hours but normally use this method for those wonderful stuffed toys that hang out in our children's rooms collecting dust. For my dry clean only linens and fabrics, I use this method as well. If you like to kill dust and have a wonderful scent, diffuse essential oils in your home. You can use oils as a fabric freshener. This is a great way to kill dust and get a nice scent.

Check with your oil provider to find recipes and your manufacturer before spraying oils on fabrics

Pets can leave behind many allergens, if you have a pet; baking soda is going to be one of your favorite tools for allergens. A few simple steps will break the static charge in the carpet and release maximum pet hair.

  • Sprinkle it on your carpet and allow it to settle for about 20 minutes. It releases the static that holds pet hair in the carpet.
  • You can then vacuum and get a better cleaning deeper into your carpets. It will also neutralize your pet odors.

Use these tools to get a jump start on the allergens in your home!
